The Sales tab is where you record every cattle sale — the date, what you sold, how many, and what you got for them. Over time this builds a revenue history that feeds straight into the Financial reports.

Once saved, the sale appears in the list below. Confirmed sales are included in your Financial reports immediately.
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Date | The date the cattle were sold (not the date the cheque arrived) |
| Description | A short note — e.g. "Gunnedah saleyards, Elders" or "Private treaty to J. Smith" |
| Livestock Class | What class of cattle you sold — yearling steers, weaner heifers, cull cows, etc. |
| Head Count | Number of animals in the sale |
| $/Head | The average price per head received. BlackCow calculates the net proceeds automatically. |
| Net Proceeds | Total amount received after agent commission and levies. You can enter this directly if you know it, or let BlackCow calculate it from head count × $/head. |
| Farm | Which farm the cattle came from. Important if you run multiple properties. |
| Status | Confirmed (settled) or Pending (not yet settled) |
Use Pending when you've done the sale but the proceeds haven't cleared yet — for example, you sold at a saleyard on Monday but the statement isn't due until Friday. This lets you capture the record while the details are fresh, without it skewing your settled revenue totals.
Use Confirmed once the sale has settled and you have the final figures. Only confirmed sales are included in the Financial reports.
Every confirmed sale flows through to Reports → Financial, where you can see:
The Financial report only includes confirmed sales. Pending sales are excluded until you confirm them.
The Sales tab shows all your recorded sales in reverse chronological order — most recent first. You can scroll back through your full history. To see analytics and charts, switch to Reports → Financial.
To edit a sale (for example to update a pending sale to confirmed, or to correct a $/head figure), tap the sale record to open it, make your changes, and save.
To delete a sale, open it and tap Delete. Deleted sales are removed from your Financial reports immediately.
