The Dashboard is the first thing you see when you open BlackCow. It gives you a quick read on what's happening right now — the weather, any voice notes waiting for your attention, and upcoming key dates.
The weather widget at the top of the Dashboard shows today's conditions for your farm. It pulls data from whichever weather source you've connected — a Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) station or a personal Weather Underground device.
At a glance you'll see:
If you haven't connected a weather station yet, go to Setup → Weather Stations to add one. If the widget shows "No data" or "--", your station may not have recorded anything in the last few hours — this is normal for BOM stations early in the morning before their observation window.
BlackCow supports voice notes — you can dictate a calf log, event, or farm update using your phone's voice input (via Siri or any speech-to-text method), and BlackCow will parse it into a structured record ready for you to review.
When a voice note has been received and processed, it appears in the Voice Drafts panel on the Dashboard. Each draft shows:
If you've recorded important dates in the app — pregnancy testing, weaning, treatment due dates, or custom reminders — the Dashboard will surface any that are coming up soon. These appear as alert banners below the weather widget.
Key dates are managed in the Events tab. If you want to stop a date from showing as an alert, open the event and mark it as complete, or delete it if it's no longer relevant.
Voice drafts sit in a "waiting for review" state — they haven't been saved to your records yet. You need to either confirm or reject each one.
